We're going to create a database called "library" and a corresponding "author" table. Connect to MySQL via your command line client and type the following:

CREATE DATABASE `library`;

USE `library`;

CREATE TABLE `author` (
  `id` int NOT NULL,
  `first_name` varchar(255) DEFAULT NULL,
  `last_name` varchar(255) DEFAULT NULL,
  PRIMARY KEY (`id`)
);
